Confirm utility disconnection
Arrange safe disconnection of water, gas, and hard-wired electrical connections before the crew arrives unless that work is explicitly included. Do not improvise on unfamiliar connections.
Empty and dry the appliance
Remove food, ice, water, lint, and loose contents. Defrost cold appliances early enough for the interior and drain pan to dry. Secure or remove glass shelves.
Protect the route
Measure doorways, move vehicles, secure pets, and clear floor obstacles. Tell the provider about stairs, tight turns, gravel, or soft ground.
Identify special handling
Share the appliance type and model when available. Refrigerant, unusual weight, or damaged doors can change how the item is handled.
